In 2010 China overtook the United States and became the world’s largest manufacturer and in the same year China also surpassed Japan and became the world’s second largest economy. China’s incredibly short journey from agricultural and command economy to global superpower status is just the beginning. The coastal areas of China have played a major role in the country’s economic development.
